Acceptance
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the Image Shed website and installable web app (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The service
Image Shed provides browser-based tools for converting and compressing images and removing image backgrounds. Processing is designed to occur on your device. The Service has no account or cloud-library feature and does not promise permanent storage of any file or result.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If the law where you live requires a higher age to consent to online services, you may use the Service only with authorization from a parent or legal guardian. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it to these Terms.
Your files and rights
You retain all rights you have in files you process and results you create. Image Shed claims no ownership of them. You are solely responsible for your files, outputs, backups, and decisions about how to use or distribute them.
You represent that you own or have all rights, permissions, and lawful authority needed to process each file and use each output, including any copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, contractual, and data-protection rights.
Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to:
- violate any law, regulation, court order, contract, or third-party right;
- process or distribute material you do not have authority to use;
- harass, exploit, defraud, impersonate, or mislead another person;
- create or distribute unlawful sexual content, child sexual abuse material, or intimate imagery without the depicted person's consent;
- introduce malware, interfere with the Service, evade safeguards, or probe for vulnerabilities;
- misrepresent an output's source, authenticity, ownership, or endorsement; or
- help another person do any of the above.
Models and third parties
Some background-removal features download third-party machine-learning models. The model you select may have terms in addition to these Terms.
Third-party services, models, codecs, fonts, and libraries are governed by their own terms and licenses. Required open-source license notices remain available with the distributed materials. External sites are not controlled by Image Shed.
Image Shed materials
The Service's code, design, text, brand, and other materials are owned by their respective rights holders and protected by applicable law. Subject to these Terms, you receive a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Service for its intended purpose. Open-source components remain governed by their stated licenses.
Changes and availability
The Service may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time. Limits may be applied to protect reliability or legal compliance. There is no promise that the Service, a model, or locally cached data will remain available. You should keep independent copies of files you need.
These Terms may be updated by posting a revised version and effective date. If a change is material, a more prominent notice may be provided. Continued use after the new effective date accepts the revised Terms.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE AND ALL OUTPUTS ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, OR SECURITY.
Image processing can fail, lose detail or metadata, alter colors, produce artifacts, or create larger or incompatible files. Model results may be incomplete or inaccurate. Test outputs before relying on them and keep original files. Nothing in the Service is legal, licensing, or professional advice.
Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IMAGE SHED AND ITS OPERATOR, CONTRIBUTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, FILES, PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED THAT SUCH DAMAGE IS POSSIBLE.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid to use the Service in the 12 months before the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so those provisions apply only to the extent allowed.
Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Image Shed, its operator, and contributors from third-party claims, damages, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your files, outputs, unlawful use of the Service, or violation of these Terms or another person's rights. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim was caused by the indemnified party's own unlawful conduct.
Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the Service operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts with jurisdiction over the operator may hear disputes, but this does not remove any mandatory consumer protection or forum rights you have under the law where you live.
General terms
If a provision is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without written consent; the operator may assign them as part of an organizational change. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the Service and supersede prior statements on that subject.
